Our Partnership with the Homeless Prenatal Program

Giving back to children in need is at the heart of everything we do at CO and we're so excited to be partnering with the Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) this month. Colored Organics partnered with HPP this month and donated baby and toddler clothing to assist families in need through their program.

The HPP is a nationally-recognized family resource center in San Francisco that empowers homeless and low-income families, particularly mothers motivated by pregnancy and parenthood, to find within themselves the strength and confidence they need to transform their lives. We serve over 3,500 low-income and homeless families annually, providing a variety of programs and services to help families become healthy, stable and self-sufficient. Their mission is to break the cycle of childhood poverty, in partnership of their families.

HPP promotes healthful living in families with four major goals:

  • Healthy Babies:Perinatal services to promote healthy pregnancies, births and bonding.
  • Safe, Stable Housing:Housing support including education, resources and limited rental assistance.
  • Nurturing Relationships:Services designed to strengthen families and promote protective factors.
  • Economic Sustainability:Job training, financial education and other resources to encourage family stability and self-sufficiency.

The agency’s vision for family support is rooted in the Center for the Study of Social Policy’s Strengthening Families Framework, a research-informed approach to increase family strengths, enhance child development and reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. By helping families hone five protective factors (parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, social and emotional competence of children), HPP helps families thrive.
