Featured Mom: Meet Tiffany

 /

We love following along with you and your littles as they grow! Being a mom is so much more than just changing diapers and rocking your babe to sleep. That's why we love to hear from you, the mom's behind it all, on what your daily life looks like in motherhood, the ups and downs that you face, and all the little moments. This month we're introducing you to Tiffany, mom to two, lover of diy and decor.

Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Tiffany and I’m an active duty Air Force mama of two. I have a ten-year-old named Jaeden and a nine-month-old named Nadia! I’ve been in the Air Force for nearly thirteen years so being a career mama is all I’ve ever known. It’s very challenging but incredibly fulfilling. Although I might not always be present in the ways I would like, I love raising my children in the Air Force culture. The community is amazing and it’s a big family in itself. My husband David also serves! We have a dog named Winifred and live on the central coast of California.

Most rewarding thing about being a mama?

My biggest joy in motherhood is watching my son or daughter do something compassionate. Just seeing that I’ve raised a child that cares deeply about humanity makes me feel SO good. My son truly had a heart of gold and seeing him put others before himself is incredibly rewarding.

LOVE. What are some of your favorite ways to pass the time with the kiddos?

I am a sucker for a good cuddle and I’d hold the babies all day if I could. We love to have cozy nights, watch movies and have sleepovers! When we can get out we LOVE fairs. Cultural fairs and festivals were a huge thing when we lived in South Carolina, and since then we’ve tried to go to a fair every month. There is honestly a fair for anything you can think of! It’s been a bit harder during social distancing, but we can’t wait for things to become safe again to go to more!

What mom chore would you forever outsource?

Oh my gosh… all of them?! Haha. If I had to pick one it would definitely be putting away laundry. I don’t mind washing clothes but for some reason they never end up being put away. Baskets on baskets on baskets around here. I wish I had the Marie Kondo gene, ha!

Haha, yes! What advice would you give to an expecting mother?

Give yourself grace! I am a type A personality and at some point, I had to accept the fact that some days I can not do it all and it almost broke me. Some days, your kids just want your love. They don’t need the Pinterest perfect room or the extravagant Christmas craft. They need us, and most of the time that is enough. Be gentle with yourself and don’t measure your success in motherhood by someone else’s standard.

How do you try to stay present and “in-the-moment”, especially with your littles?

Sometimes I do find myself distracted by everything else that’s going on—but my family and I stick to a strict “no-distractions-at-meal-time” rule. It really helps us connect and that’s usually the time we have the most laughs! We try to do the same on family trips. Social media can wait. Soak up every minute because you won’t remember how many views you got on your story in 20 years!

Share your favorite “mom-hack”

Activity kits are GAME CHANGER. We keep them in the garage to grab on the way to a restaurant, long trip or any other time the kids need to be entertained. We usually have crayons, some type of playing cards, coloring books, small travel-sized games… it helps SO much and let’s have time out without them getting bored.

Share a product that made parenting easier!

I swear by the Keekaroo Changing peanut. I don’t know how I ever lived without it with my son. It makes clean up so much easier during diaper changes!

Favorite book to read to your kids?

“Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch is a favorite of mine. My mom read it to us as kids and it always has had a special place in my heart. It captures the lifelong love between a parent and child so beautifully.

Your favorite cozy item at Colored Organics?

Now that fall is here, we are loving the Classic Portland pullover! So cute and comfy, and the muted tones are so flattering. We sized up for an oversized look, and I know it’ll be perfect for the breezy California nights!
