Black-Owned Brands We Love

During Black History Month, we recognize and celebrate the innumerable ways that Black Americans have brought change to our communities, our country, and across the world. This month, we are celebrating and uplifting the incredible Black Woman-Owned Brands We Love that we have the privilege of carrying at Colored Organics.

6Heart

When she became a stay at home mom a little over two years ago, Pereishia began searching for a creative outlet to keep her busy. Little did she know, what started as sewing wraps and bows for her youngest daughter would soon become so much bigger than that!

6Heart makes a variety of adorable hair accessories for little ones (& mamas too!). The name was inspired by Pereishia and her husband’s six daughters, who “most definitely are our heart,” Pereishia says.

What part of the work you do with 6Heart brings you the most joy?

Being able to literally hand make every order is the most joyful part of 6Heart for me. I don’t have any employees, so everything that goes into each order is all me — from the sewing to the packaging! I put so much love and care into each order, and I feel like my customers can feel it when they receive their orders!

What advice do you have for other Black aspiring entrepreneurs out there?

Passion is everything! If there is something you are passionate about and want to turn it into a business, go at it with your whole heart. Money flows where your passion grows. If you’re super passionate about what you’re doing, you will be successful in so many ways! Also, gratitude for everything in your life goes a long way!

How can we all better support Black-owned businesses this month and beyond?

Support doesn’t always mean buying something from a Black-owned business (although it is an important part!). A simple repost, social media follow, share, like, comment, recommendation, or review means so much to us as entrepreneurs. It means to us that you love our products, and you want your followers and the world to love our products as well!

Pretty Please Teethers

A bout of severe morning sickness with her youngest and a whole lot of free time is what ultimately pushed Kelli to start Pretty Please Teethers back in 2017. She was struggling to find products for her little ones that were both stylish and functional, and so she set out to make her own.

Pretty Please Teethers now makes a variety of modern handmade items that both babies and their parents will love. Not only are their teethers and toys stylish with their minimalist design, but they are also made from organic and sustainable materials like silicone, beechwood, and recycled plastic.

Celebrate Black History Month with new Diversity & Inclusion Books for your littles!

This month, we are also delighted to be adding several new books to our Brands We Love collection that center diversity narratives, discuss Black history, and introduce kids to important conversations.
