For our October Give Back, we are honored to once again partner with Safe Haven Foster Shoppe, a Minnesota-based nonprofit dedicated to providing essential items and comfort to children entering foster care. Serving communities throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, their work helps ensure children have access to the everyday necessities they need during times of transition, while offering meaningful support to the families welcoming them into their homes.
Entering foster care can be an overwhelming experience for a child. Many arrive in unfamiliar surroundings with few personal belongings, often without the clothing, toiletries, or comfort items they need. Safe Haven Foster Shoppe recognizes that having something of their own, whether it's a fresh pair of pajamas, a favorite book, or a soft blanket, can bring a sense of comfort and familiarity during an uncertain time.

Through their personalized placement bag program, Safe Haven Foster Shoppe provides children with brand-new essentials selected specifically for their age, size, and individual needs. Each bag includes clothing, pajamas, socks, toiletries, a blanket, a book, and a stuffed animal, along with additional items based on the child's circumstances. From diapers and bottles for infants to personal care products for teens, these thoughtfully prepared bags help children feel cared for from the moment they arrive.
Beyond supporting children, the organization also serves as a valuable resource for foster families and social workers. Foster placements can happen with little notice, leaving caregivers limited time to gather everything a child might need. By working directly with county agencies, private organizations, and foster homes, Safe Haven Foster Shoppe strives to deliver placement bags within 24 hours, helping ease the immediate financial and practical demands on families.
