CO Mom Feature: Meet Abigail

 /

Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from Maryland-based momma, Abigail!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

Hi, I’m Abigail Bowie! I’m 24 years old and live in Southern Maryland. I’ve been married for a year and a half and am a mom of two, Brooks (almost 3) and Virginia Eve (2 months). I’m a stay-at-home mom and enjoy baking, thrifting, and homemaking. I am super active on Instagram and love connecting with other moms and collaborating with brands. My content focuses on lifestyle such as motherhood, fashion, and home. I really enjoy taking photos of our everyday life and documenting it online!

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

The most rewarding part of being a parent is all the extra fun you get to have daily. Kids find such joy in the littlest things and it makes life so much more fun. You get so many more smiles and laughs than you did before being a parent. You think you had fun before? Have a kid and it becomes 10x more fun.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

The most surprising part of being a parent is definitely how much you learn from people who are still so new to the world. They have taught me so many life lessons in such a short amount of time. A child’s unconditional love and forgiveness is such a beautiful reminder that you are both still learning and it’s okay to mess up. Both mom and the kids are doing the best they can and I’ve really learned the importance of patience and to cherish every learning moment. Their innocence in this world opens your eyes to so much and it’s amazing. It’s something I truly never expected and they’ve helped ME grow so much not only as a mom, but a person as a whole.

WHAT DOES SELF CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

Self care is being able to bask in silence. I love the sounds of a child’s imagination and watching them learn, but kids are loud and it’s okay to feel overstimulated. I cherish being with my kids, but I also cherish being able to get some alone time when they go down for a nap because everyone deserves solitude and needs it to stay sane. Being able to sit in silence or be in my own thoughts is important so I can recuperate and be the best version of myself for my kids.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

Washing sheets and making the bed. Worst chore ever LOL! Overall, I don’t mind doing laundry. I find it very satisfying and relaxing to wash, fold and put it away, but putting on bed sheets and replacing pillowcases is so exhausting and I hate doing it. I always put it off. Thankfully, I have the most enthusiastic little 2-year-old helper to help me with all things laundry!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

My favorite thing about Colored Organics is that the clothing is sustainable and ethical! I feel good knowing that it’s made with every aspect in mind from farmers and employees to the environment and consumers! The clothing is also undeniably adorable. I’m a sucker for neutrals and I love that there are so many options and new collections always being released!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

Be gentle with yourself. It’s okay to not get every single chore on your to-do list done. It’s okay if you feel like you didn’t do anything all day long. As long as your baby is fed, dressed, clean, and loved, you’ve done enough. Caring for a child is the most important thing in the world so spend your time focusing on all you did do instead of all you didn’t. Soak in every minute with them. Everyone counts and they pass by SO quickly.
