March Give: Crisis Nursery

For our March Give Back, we are honored to partner with the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect while creating strong, healthy families. As a Minnesota based brand, this partnership is especially meaningful to us as we continue to support our local community during a difficult time for our state.

For more than 40 years, the Crisis Nursery has served as a trusted resource for families facing crisis. Their work focuses on prevention, providing free and voluntary services that support parents during challenging moments and ensure children have a safe, nurturing environment while families work toward stability.

The Crisis Nursery was established in 1983 after community leaders recognized that parents in crisis had nowhere to turn for immediate support. What began as a small program with a crisis helpline and space to shelter six children per day has grown into a vital community resource. Today, the Nursery answers nearly 4,000 crisis calls each year and provides over 5,000 nights of care annually for children from newborn through age six.

Families who contact the Nursery may be facing many different challenges, including unemployment, housing instability, medical concerns, mental health struggles, domestic violence, or other difficult situations. Through their 24 hour crisis helpline, counseling services, and connections to community resources, the organization offers compassionate support to parents who are seeking help.

One of the Nursery’s most impactful services is their overnight residential care program. Parents may voluntarily place their children at the Nursery for up to three nights while they address their immediate crisis. During their stay, children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment where they receive personalized attention, emotional support, and developmentally appropriate activities that help build coping skills.

At the same time, parents work with Family Advocates to create action plans that help stabilize their situation. This two generational approach supports both the parent and the child together, strengthening family relationships and building long term resilience.

The Crisis Nursery’s vision is a community free of child abuse and neglect, where every child grows up in a safe and supportive home. Through trauma informed care, research based practices, and a deep commitment to families, they continue to lead the way in prevention and family support.
