June Give: Foster America

A Print With A Purpose

In May, we launched our County Fair Collection, which included a special print with a purpose - the County Fairgrounds print. With 20% of proceeds being donated to help positively impact foster care families and organizations, this whimsical design captures the essence of hot summer days in the midway where laughter and happiness abound. Help us spread happiness and hope with every purchase of our County Fairgrounds print!

Foster America was founded in 2016, starting out as a fellowship model by drawing inspiration from programs in education, health, and immigration. Co-founders Sherry Lachman and Marie Zemler Wu, found that the child welfare system places too many children, especially children of color and low-income children, into foster care when they could be kept safely at home with the right support. They recruited, trained, and supported diverse, experienced leaders with skill sets not traditionally represented in child welfare to lead 63 innovation projects.

In 2023, Foster America expanded its approach and is now taking an active role in driving innovations and transformations to reduce child welfare system involvement. With communities and local governments, they are creating a just, equitable alternative to today’s child welfare system by using four strategies: design, collaborate, finance, and learn.
