We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from California-based momma Phylicia!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

Hey there! I'm Phylicia I'm 24 and a mom to two kiddos! I am a fitness enthusiast and I love to cook as well! Motherhood has become a passion of mine since I had my first baby at 22! Now I have two under two!

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

The most rewarding part about being a mom is that you get to see life through a fresh pair of eyes. With my two kiddos I get to experience everything as if it's brand new. Kids get excited about things that we become numb to like seeing buses, seeing trucks, and overall just appreciating the little things.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

The most surprising thing I discovered about being a mom is how much you will learn about yourself. I never really realized that I need to also take care of myself to take better care of my kids—if I don’t take care of myself first I tend to be short- fused.

WHAT DOES SELF CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

Self care means to continue to do things that make myself happy. At the beginning of my motherhood journey I found myself never giving myself self care time. This left me feeling very low and empty and simply a vessel that my daughter needed to stay alive (breastfeeding). Now I make sure to get my nails done. I make sure to give myself extra time alone to do my skincare at night. Having little moments throughout the day to do things alone and to really unplug is the greatest form of self care I could ever give myself.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

Okay you guys as crazy as it sounds, but I could give up mopping for the rest of my life! Mopping is so annoying for me to do and it actually works well for me because my partner actually enjoys mopping!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

My favorite cozy piece from Colored Organics would have to be the classic long sleeve bodysuit. It is something that is so classic, but bodysuits are such a staple for every mama and baby duo. My favorite thing about Colored Organics is simply that they are ethical; finding a brand that is reasonably priced but also high quality is hard to find nowadays so I appreciate that from Colored Organics.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

Advice that I would give is to remember that when times get hard and it feels like you have nobody to relate to and you’re questioning things in your life. Remember that this is just the season of life that you are in and it will come and it will go and some day you will miss that specific moment.
