Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from California-based mama, Sarah!
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!
Originally from the south, I now live in Oceanside, California with my husband and our daughter, Coura. I’m a new mom! I am also an artist and designer. I’ve been making art as my full-time job for about 10 years now and I absolutely love it. My husband and I are coastal fanatics. We both grew up on the water so now we live a block from the beach and spend the majority of our free time there.
WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?
Re-parenting myself! I did not grow up in a very stable home so being able to provide that for my daughter is so rewarding.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?
How much babies sleep! I don’t think I realized how much we would be nap-trapped at home, but it’s a great season for getting things done. I’ve been able to spend a lot of time working on fun projects!
WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
Little breaks (sans baby) to swim in the ocean, thrift by myself, or get coffee/drinks with a friend. When my daughter was 8 weeks old, I went to the spa with two of my closest friends and that was amazing! I think I need to do that again.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?
Cooking. Breastfeeding makes me hungry all the time!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?
The softness of the fabric and the quality! Even after all of the multiple blowouts and washes, the fabric still looks and feels like day 1.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?
Listen to everyone’s unsolicited advice, take what feels best for you and your lifestyle, and then leave the rest. I always have to remember, I am my own person. Coura is her own person. What works for someone else might not work for us! How we move through life is so unique and personal to each one of us. Among all the noise of “you should do this and you shouldn’t do that” advice, that small reminder has helped me stay grounded.
