Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from California-based mama, Maddie!
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!
My name is Maddie and I am 23. I was born in South Carolina and raised in Tennessee. I moved to California after my husband got out of the Army. I have two beautiful children, Eloise (1.5) and Jon (4). A little about me is I am a photographer and I’ve always been pretty creative. I love taking and styling photos. I also have a habit of diving headfirst into learning new hobbies and skills far too often.
WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?
The most rewarding part of being a mother is being able to see the changes in my children as I raise and teach them. Also being able to see the best differences between my own childhood and theirs. It’s so beautiful to watch their very own personalities change and develop over time.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?
The most surprising thing about parenthood for me is that I don’t always know what I’m doing. I thought you’d eventually figure out the exact way to do it but for me, each of my kids are different. I can’t use the same methods on them and quite frankly many methods of things such as potty training and sleep training never worked. There isn’t some secret or exact way to parent and I couldn’t fathom that in the beginning until I lived it and it was only then that I understood what my mom was telling me.
WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
Self care for me is having time to read my Bible, shower and get myself ready with no interruptions. I feel a lot better when I’m put together. Lately, I’ve been trying to do my makeup and put a nice outfit on daily even if I’m not going anywhere.
WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?
I think I would outsource laundry, I don’t mind folding it but I hate having to put it all away in the end.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?
I truly love Colored Organics because they not only make amazing and very cute clothes but they are natural and sustainable. Anyone I’ve had the pleasure of communicating with on their team has always been very sweet too! I wish my kids could live in Colored Organics 24/7.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?
The dishes can wait until after you’ve made memories with your kids. It’s taken me a while to realize that not everything I have to do has to be done right this minute. Always feel much better in a clean and tidy home but in all reality it’s hard to keep it that way. Just enjoy the time you have with your babies the most. I like to think about what special memories my kids will remember when they are older so I try to make each day special.
