Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some insights on motherhood from Minnesota-based mama Lisa!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

I am a mom of 3:a 4-year-old girl, a 2-year-old girl, and a 6-month boy. We live in Minnesota where my husband and I own our own a video production company. We are in the business of making memories which is so much fun to do for our kids! We love to head to the lake in the summertime! I love to cook and host and we love riding around in our 1925 Model T!

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

There are so many things I love about raising kids. It is so refining. Choosing day in and day out to put their needs before your own and fighting to be present with them when everything seems to be calling for your attention. Parenthood is a high calling that I don’t take for granted and I believe it is a gift that God has given me and I want to steward it well. I love seeing the world through their eyes. Stopping and noticing things I take for granted every single day and finding joy in the ordinary.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

The most surprising thing about motherhood is how much they model you (which is amazing and scary all at the same time). They pick up on things even before you get the chance to teach them! They are like little sponges soaking up all the world around them! 

WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

Self-care is my shower. Standing in there because no one can bother me for 10 minutes!

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

LAUNDRY without a doubt. I am terrible at it. I just buy everyone in my family a lot of underwear so they never run out.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

I love so many things about CO. I love that I can feel good about the clothes my kids are wearing, that all pieces are made of organic cotton, and that all their clothing is produced ethically. We love that!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

Everything is a season. When some freedoms are gone, others will come. It all ebbs and flows. Nothing lasts forever. Your freedoms will come back and will be better than ever because now you get to do it with your tiny human!
