Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from Washington-based mama, Julia!
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!
Hi! My name is Julia, I am 25 years old, and I currently live in Washington State but am originally from Ukraine. I am a first-time mom of Ezra who just turned 1 year old last month, and I also work full-time as a restorative hygienist at a pediatrics office. I consider myself a Jack of all trades and love picking up on hobbies, whether it’s art, hiking, sports activities, or simply just reading. I’ve always enjoyed making pretty things and taking pretty pictures, so of course when I had Ezra, I started doing a lot of content creation. I absolutely love doing it and am so grateful for the community I’ve connected with because of that.
WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?
Having an itty bitty human that depends on you, needs you, and gives you those adoring looks as they nurse. It feels so empowering to know that there’s a little human out there who loves you more than anything else and is always there to cuddle and hug you when you’re having a hard day.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?
How adaptable you become as a parent. How life is turned upside down when you welcome a newborn but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
I love to have a coffee, a good book, and just relax to myself. Most of my self-care has to happen at night after I put Ezra to sleep but I’m also a night owl so I don’t mind.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?
Washing floors. I get so sweaty when I wash floors! Or folding the laundry... Ezra spat up until about 9 months old so laundry was never-ending!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?
What’s not to love? The pieces are all gorgeous, the organic material is amazing, and the fact that they donate to charities every month and produce the clothes in ethical ways is amazing!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?
Give yourself lots of grace. Mom guilt will always come, and anxiety will be at an all-time high in the first few months, but the hard times pass, things get easier, experience will come, and you’ll be looking back at the first few months wishing you soaked it all in a little more. Take lots of pictures and videos. It doesn’t have to be pretty and neat and put together, just take the pictures and videos and you will thank yourself later when you’re going down the rabbit hole of your newborn baby pictures.
