Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from New Hampshire-based mama, Jesenia!
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!
Hi! My name is Jesenia, but everyone calls me Jesi. I live in New Hampshire but grew up in a small coastal town in Massachusetts. My husband Dylan and I have two kids, Lydia (3) and Griffin (11 months) who keep us on our toes! I love to go to the beach or be outside in general, but my favorite activities are all things fall-related. When I’m not chasing the kids and getting to wind down, I’m a sucker for a good thriller novel and a glass of wine on the porch, or watching my comfort show, Grey’s Anatomy!
WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?
Being the one who makes their world go round, is such an indescribable feeling. Whether we are cozy on the couch or off on a fun family adventure, it’s not lost on me that all they truly want and need to feel happy and safe is us. It’s such a gift.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?
How crazy our instincts are as parents. Knowing the difference between every single cry, and understanding what they need before they do. It’s like the second they are born, we just know them and know what is best for them and it’s truly mind-blowing!
WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
This could be so many things for me, I’m not picky! Curled up with a good book, coffee in bed in the morning when my husband gets up with the kids, or going to get a pedicure while listening to a podcast are a few ways I take care of myself.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?
Honestly… laundry. I feel like everything else would be a lot easier if I didn’t have to do laundry. I can’t keep up these days!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?
Gosh, so many things! I love the simplicity and timeless feel of the designs, but beyond that, I love that CO is truly passionate about giving back. That reason alone has made me a customer for life.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?
As moms, we put so much pressure on ourselves and I remember as a new mom feeling like I got nothing done all day and felt so stressed about that. So my advice would be, to adjust your expectations and in that feeling of overwhelm, take a breath and think about how much you DID do. Did you change your baby’s diapers all day? Did you feed them? Snuggle them? Sing them a song? Keep them safe and cozy? Girl, you did SO MUCH. If you didn’t get to the laundry or the dishes, it’s okay. Productivity looks different as a mom and that’s OKAY. Give yourself grace, you’re doing amazing, and your family is so thankful for you.
