CO Featured Mom: Meet Aubrey

Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you together, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some motherhood insights from Virginia-based mama, Aubrey!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

The most rewarding thing for me so far is seeing my kids love on each other. My boys have always had such a strong bond, and now that their baby sister is here, they just love her so much and are so caring/dote on her all the time! It’s such a pleasure to watch as you pour so much love into your kiddos, they give it right back.

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

The most surprising thing about parenthood for me has been how chaotic things can be at times. I’ve always felt like a very organized person, but having kids has taught me to just let go a little and that I can’t expect things to go the way I want. I also have been surprised by the fact that even though I may not love every part of motherhood, like the pregnancy experience, lack of sleep, sickness, etc… I know I would do it all 1000x over for them because the kind of love they have brought into my life is worth every second of the hard stuff.

WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

Self-care is tough! I know that in order to be the best mom I can be for them I need to take time to myself. I still at times feel guilty doing so though! Which is totally a normal feeling, especially for moms! But I do notice that I can be so much more present and engaged with them after I’ve taken some time away. For me that looks like going to get my nails done or walking around some thrift shops all by myself so I can enjoy the quiet and sit with my thoughts.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

If I could afford to, I would definitely outsource a bit of cleaning. Keeping up with just the daily messes that happen is tough, so help with things like bathrooms, baseboards, and windows occasionally would be huge!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

My favorite part about Colored Organics products is the incredibly soft fabrics! It’s so important to me to dress my babies in soft, eco-friendly fabrics that are safe for their delicate skin, especially since my middle struggles with eczema. The fabrics we get are always of the highest quality and oh-so-soft!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

If I could go back to my pregnancy with my first and give myself advice, it would be to not stress about all the little hardships or struggles like developmental delays, potty training issues, sleep issues, etc. Every bump in the road of parenting is just that, a bump. You’ll get past it, it won’t be that way forever and things will sort themselves out with time. There’s no reason to add unnecessary stress for yourself.
