CO Featured Mom: Meet Ashley

Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some insights on motherhood from Pennsylvania-based mama Ashley!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

Hi! I’m Ashley from Pennsylvania. I’m a mom of three with kids ranging from toddler to teenager (ages 2, 4, and 13!). I worked as a registered nurse from 2011 to 2021, and I now stay home with my children and work as a content creator. We also have four cats and a dog, so our house is always full of chaos and love! I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, cozy movie nights, and finding joy in the everyday moments of motherhood.

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

Watching my children become their own little people. Seeing their personalities, interests, and relationships with one another develop is incredibly special. Even during the hardest seasons, which I definitely am in now, there are little moments that remind me what a privilege it is to be their mom! 

 


WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

Parenthood can be exhausting, overwhelming, hilarious, and incredibly beautiful all within a few minutes.  

You can experience many emotions at the exact same time! I know everyone says the days go fast, but I guess I was never prepared for how quickly every stage would actually pass, even the ones that feel endless while you’re living them. 


WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

Self care looks like something simple. It might be taking a nice hot bath, using my walking pad, enjoying some quiet time after the kids are asleep, or even cooking a nice meal. I’ve learned that self care doesn’t have to be extravagant, especially because I don’t have a lot of alone time right now. Sometimes it’s just doing something that helps me feel a little more like myself.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

I would definitely outsource cleaning the house! With three kids constantly making new messes, it can feel like such a daunting and never ending chore. The second one room is clean, another somehow needs attention.


WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

I love that their clothing is made from soft, organic cotton and is comfortable enough for my kids to wear every day! I also really appreciate that Colored Organics is a women-owned brand. Their pieces are beautiful, practical, and designed to be worn, loved, and passed down.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

Give yourself grace and try not to put too much pressure on yourself to enjoy every single moment. You can be grateful for motherhood and still find parts of it difficult, because there will be difficult times and that is okay!  Accept help when it’s offered, trust yourself and your intuition, and remember that your baby doesn’t need a perfect mom, they just need you!
